I have been breeding bulldogs since 2001. I fell in love with the breed after I got my first bitch from a friend of mine. They are truly unique dogs. I then decided I wanted to get a show prospect male and found one not too far from me. I went to see that dog and the breeder did show so he started helping me and teaching me what I needed to know to show. I went to my first show several months later and I have been hooked. I met several other people at the shows and we all travel together and have a very good time and have become very good friends.
I am still learning and studying the breed. I have learned that there is not a perfect bulldog. They are hard to breed, birth and raise but they are worth the effort when you get nice healthy quality pups.
Someone once asked me if I wanted to be known for showing and finishing a bulldog with many faults and hard to finish or one with less faults and easier to finish. I of course would rather finish a dog easy to finish with less faults, as close to the standard as possible.
I have learned that breeding to a dog just because he is a champion or looks good is not all that matters. You need to look at the pedigree and study it and try to find the best possible match to your bitch. Look at the things you want to correct about her and find a male that has those qualities. A champion with many champions in his pedigree is better than a champion with few. He comes from a long line of quality dogs and your chances of getting nice pups are increased. With few champions it will be hit and miss.
I do have puppies on occasion. I breed to get my next show dog. I may keep several in a litter to see how they turn out. I will have puppies to place in pet homes occasionally. They will be sold on a limited registration. Some show puppies will be available to show homes.
You never know when a pup is young if they will be show quality. Many times they are 1 year and older before you know for sure. When I say I have a show prospect I am judging by how they look at that time.
I do not sell to brokers or puppy mills!
